Uttoran strengthens the community by ensuring adequate and nutritious food. Efforts are made for accessing their rights, entitlement and livelihood options- on farm and off farm through strengthening community based mechanism. Asansol Burdwan Seva Kendra is the implementing agency supported by Caritas India and Misereor implemented the programme for 600 households in 15 villages under 2 Gram Panchayat- Bonpass and Sahebgunj 2. The project area is located in Bhatar block in Purba Burdwan district. 

The majority of the household belongs to scheduled tribe and has less agricultural cultivable land, so their main livelihood depends on share-cropping and daily wage earners.
